Cesspools
Cesspools are purely a storage tank for all sewage both solids and liquid waste. There is no outlet on a cesspool and thus will require emptying on a frequent basis depending on usage and storage size.
A licensed waste disposal contractor will need to regularly empty the cesspool. As there is no discharge, cesspools can fill very quickly and need careful monitoring to ensure they do not overflow and we would recommend always installing a high-level alarm to avoid the system overflowing or being emptied prematurely. Cesspools are a solution for locations without mains drainage where the discharge of effluent is not possible due to unsuitable ground conditions or limited space to construct a soakaway.
Standard sizes range from 1,000 litres to 84,000 litres, however larger tanks are available up to 240,000 litres.
